W.I.P. WEDNESDAY

Hi its Wednesday again and time to link up with Lee at freshly Pieced and see what everyone has been doing this week.

Here is a look at what I have been doing

I have been still working on the embroidery on my Block 2 & 3 of my Vignette in Stitches quilt. It is coming along quite nicely. I try to make a little time each day to do some work on it,
The main project I have been working on this week is a table runner and four place mats. These are an engagement present for my best friend Jeans daughter. I feel like I  have a bit of a table runner thing going
at the moment as this will be my 5th one finished in the last few weeks.
The tops before applique, I hadn't finished the fourth place mat when I took this pic.
I finished the table runner today. Still have to do the applique on the place mats then quilt then.

I used FMQ in a swirly pattern on the white and a hearts pattern on the black.

The Grinch banner and place mats I was working on last week have come to a holt. Will need to get my act together to get them finished for Christmas.

Thanks for dropping by. Make sure to drop be and visit Lee and check out everyone's hard work this week.
I love to know you have stop by so please leave a comment.

W.I.P Wednesday

Its Wednesday again and time to take stock of what progress has been made this week.

This is a mystery quilt from Leanne Beasley 'Vignette' magazine.
Block 1 from issue 1 is all finished.

Have started the embroidery on block 2 & 3 from issue 2. I am really enjoying this quilt with its pretty colours and hand embroidery. Looking forward to issue 5 coming out soon to see what the next blocks will be.

'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' Bunting

I picked this up as a panel from ' Voodoo Rabbit '. They also had the pattern idea in their newsletter.
I have sewn the flags from the panel. I want to decorate them with some glittery stuff before sewing them on to the bias tape to make the bunting.
I have just ordered an extra panel to turn into place mats for Christmas. I thought it would be a cute theme for Christmas Day. I will give everyone their place mat to take home at the end of the day.

Before I sign off I would like to share this really weird WIP with you.
This is what happens when you have a Maths Nerd for a son. When he needs extra room to work on a problem he uses the glass sliding doors for his WIP.

Make sure to visit Lee at Freshly Pieced  to see what everyone else has been up to this week.
Thank you for stopping by. I do love to know you have been so Pleasssssse leave a comment. I will do my best to return the favor.

Tuesday Treasurers

Tuesday is when we all get together with Melody from House on the Side of the Hill. So make sure to stop by and check out all the wonderful treasures.
Mine today is having fantastic weekends away in our 'tent on wheels' Camper Trailer. This weekend we ducked over the boarded into NSW to stay at Hastings Point.  About 1 1/2 hrs drive from home.
'The view from our camper'

'A Mosaic of Snaps taken over the Weekend'

The weather was lovely, warm sunny days. It was a bit windy on Sunday and the wind surfers came out they were amazing the watch flying over the waves. We had a family of Sea Eagles nesting on top of a pole within view of our camper. It was fascinating watching the parents coming in with large fish to feed the young.  There was beautiful New Zealand Christmas bush hedging both sides of our camp site. These made a stunning privacy screen with there red flowers blooming. How lucky we are to have such treasures so close to home that we came duck away for a relaxing weekend and enjoy natures beauty.

and it wouldn't be a weekend away without time for a little stitching

Thanks so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment as I love to know you have visited.

W.I.P Wednesday

The embroidery is coming along on block one. This BOM is from Leanne Beasley beautiful magazine Vignette. issue 4 is due out soon. I still need to finish this and do the embroidery on blocks 2 &3.

I had finished the top of this before I minded my Grand Daughter for two weeks recently. My mind has been a bit mushy after minding a 31/2 y.o. and only just remembered I had to get it quilted and sent away. I started the quilting yesterday but kept losing power, so gave up till late in the afternoon. I did manage to get the stitch in the ditch done but still need to do some free motion quilting and binding. Hope to get this done today and in the post by the end of the week. Fingers crossed!!!

3. ROMPERS FOR SYRUS

I picked up this cute Dr Seuss fabric from Voodoo Rabbit to make something for our new Grandson, Syrus (2 weeks old). if you are looking for fabric that is a bit different check them out. I used New Look pattern 6061 for these romper. Just need to get some buttons and snap tape to finish. One day I will read the requirements list on a pattern before I start to make sure I have every thing I need.
I have also cut out these little Kimono Baby Shoe out of the left over fabric.

I joined up to do the Solids-Only Tote Challenge. Have finished the outer, but still needs lining. To find out more about this bag check out my Monday Show & Tell.  Where I give the details of the process gone in to make this bag so far.

Make sure you drop in and visit Lee at Freshly Pieced to see what everyone else has been working on this  week.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Please leave a comment as I love to now you have been here.

SOLIDS- ONLY TOTE CHALLENGE

I have joined the 'Solids Only Tote Challenge' and started my tote on the weekend. I would like to share what I have done. I started by deciding I would like to do a beach tote based on beach umbrellas. I have never made a bag with out a pattern to follow before, so have winged this a bit an have been making it up as I go along. I started by choosing the colours. I didn't want standard beach colurs so went for greens (my grand daughters favorite colour) then add hot pink.
I then used my 'Jewel Box - Gem 10' template to cut wedges. I picked up mine from Kerry Glen in a workshop I did with her this year.
The pink wedges I then framed with black piping
Then added the other colours to get this effect.
The requirements called for applique  I thought I would add some birds to represent my blog. I also thought that they would look like the shadows of birds flying over the umbrellas.
I also embodied my blog name. Don't all the top bag designers plaster the names all over their bags LOL

This is what outside ended  up looking like
I then added straps. I wanted long ones so I could sling it across my back. I don't now about you but bags always slide of my shoulder and I wanted to be able to carry I hands free. Thanks to Alex for modeling. he is a mathematician and can't show his face on his mothers blog.
I then used the hot pink to line my bag. Adding two pockets one with a zip and on the other side a large pocket lined with minky to put bottles of cool water in.

So there you have to journey of my Solids-Only Tote Challenge. this is the first time I have attempted something like this and am pleased to end up with a nice new beach bag, with all the features I wanted in my bag.
